On behalf of the employees of Peach County’s Public Works Department, we welcome you to our home page. We welcome any ideas that might help this site better address the needs of Peach County residents and those doing business with Peach County Public Works.
Peach County Public Works is made up of four Divisions. These Divisions include Public Roads and Sidewalks, Public Buildings, Stormwater, and Solid Waste (Sanitation). The department is also responsible for managing many Capital Improvement projects throughout the County. The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation of many vital County facilities and infrastructure including:
- Construction and Maintenance of Roads, Bridges, and Sidewalks
- Construction and Maintenance of County Buildings
- Construction and Maintenance of Stormwater Infrastructure and ensuring compliance with State and Federal Stormwater Laws and Regulations
- Construction of new County Infrastructure and Facilities
- Trash and Yard Waste Roadside Collection
- Construction of infrastructure upgrades such as sanitary sewer
Peach County is comprised of approximately 151 square miles. There are over 230-miles of county roads (200-miles of paved roads, and 30-miles of dirt and gravel roads), five bridges, 500-miles of drainage ways, two closed landfills, and over 286,000 square feet of county building space. The department also maintains records of plans and specifications of County buildings, bridges and roadways, and other pertinent data.
Emergency Response
In the event of an emergency, such as an accident with injuries or a crime in progress, or fire please call 9-1-1. Please call 9-1-1 if you see a problem on the road that is dangerous to the traveling public such as an obstruction, debris in the road, or a tree blocking or threatening the road. Public Works plays a vital support role in any declared emergency, such as snow removal or fallen trees and limbs during inclement weather. We help manage transportation, refuse, and other logistical issues that may arise during local or regional emergencies.
Mission
Peach County Public Works, through its highly dedicated employees, provides for the delivery of high quality, cost effective, valuable, safe, services of public infrastructure and facilities to enhance the quality of life in Peach County. This mission is accomplished through the prudent use of resources, technology, innovations, teamwork, and coordination with other departments in the County.
Purpose
To construct, protect, and maintain, within the authority provided by the County Board of Commissioners, the physical structures and facilities that have been determined necessary for public purposes, and to provide services to the public to facilitate the achievement of common social, economic and environmental goals.
